Because I miss you

I was supposed to wake up at 11:50 pm. Too bad it's 5 am already...lol It's still as peaceful as normal. Looks like everyone has gone to bed already. Why am I still here then? Because I can't fall back asleep listening to a song. It's been repeated like 10 times already. The melody of the song attracted my soul since the first moment I played it. I don't know why but I really can't get enough of it. So let me share you this beautiful early morning song and good morning to everyone..........

You are my Endless Memory: episode 37 "The gaps between us"

Immediately, a guy walked into the room. Jumi turned to the door and exclaimed......

“Kei!!!”

Kei bowed a bit to Jumi’s mother. He then smiled at Jumi and responded.....

“Good morning princess! Are you feeling better now?”

Jumi smiled and responded......

“I’m much better now. Thank you!”

“What are you doing??? Here! Let me help you!”

Kei said and lifted Jumi’s bag up. Jumi’s mother spoke out.....

“Jumi and Kei, you can go and wait for me outside first. I have to prepare something more and check out. So I’ll be there soon.”

Jumi and Kei smiled and responded.....

“Ok!”

They both said and walked out of the patient room together. They were walking, talking and laughing together, without even realizing just a little bit that someone had been standing and staring at them from a distance. He had been watching them since the moment when Jumi was preparing her stuffs, Kei was walking in, and they were talking and smiling together. The more he looked at them, the more he felt like being a stalker who couldn’t do anything besides watching them from a far far far distance. Suddenly, Jumi’s mother walked out of the room and noticed him. She spoke out with a smile.....

“Hello! You are Jumi’s friend, right?”

Joon suddenly stopped walking. He turned to Jumi’s mother and bowed......

“Yes, ma’am. I am Jumi’s friend.”

“Yeah..... I seem to recognize you. You’re the one who came to visit her last night. Anyway, Jumi had been preparing to leave hospital. She’s waiting for me outside right now. Why don’t you go and meet her?”

Joon smiled and responded.....

“It’s ok ma’am. I just drop by to see if Jumi is ok right now. It seems like she’s totally fine now. So I’ll take your leave now. Goodbye, ma’am! Have a nice day!”

Joon bowed and then walked away, leaving Jumi’s mother who was still wondering why he didn’t go out and meet Jumi if he had already decided to come to the hospital. As Jumi’s mother walked out of the hospital, she saw Jumi and Kei sitting on a bench. She walked toward them and said.....

“Alright! Have you been waiting for me long?”

“No, mum! We had just sat down and you came already.”

Jumi’s mother turned to Kei and said....

“Kei! You’re going to school, right? I’ll give you a lift.”

Kei smiled and replied....

“It’s ok, aunt! I can take the bus. Anyway, Jumi, you should have a good rest at home and go back to school soon.”

Jumi smiled and responded....

“Yes... Thank you so much Kei!”

“Alright then! I’ll be going now. Goodbye Jumi and aunt.”

“Goodbye Kei!”

Once Kei had already left, Jumi and her mum walked into the car. While Jumi’s mother was driving her home, she spoke out......

“Jumi! Earlier at the hospital, one of your friends came to visit you but he didn’t go in to meet you and didn’t even go out to meet you when I told him to.”

Jumi suddenly exclaimed.....

“Really? Who is that, mum?”

“Hmmmm..... I forgot to ask his name. But I think he’s quite familiar. The more I look at him, the more I feel like I used to see him somewhere before.”

Jumi listened to her mum’s words and she was suddenly reminded of that piece of paper and that guy’s shadow again..........

Time had been passing by, Jumi hadn’t been to school for 3 days already. Joon, who was sitting quietly alone in the classroom, suddenly turned to the door as he had heard people chatting at the door.....

“Jumi! How have you been?”

“You haven’t been to school for a few days. We’re so worried about you.”

“Yeah... We miss you a lot.”

Jumi’s bright smile appeared on her face once again. She said in a sweet voice......

“I was a little bit sick but I’m totally fine now. Thanks guys for worrying about me.”

She said and walked to her seat. As she sat down, Joon said nothing but kept staring at her, who was looking at the whiteboard silently. Time passed by and Joon started to get far and far away from Jumi. Whatever he did, he always tried to keep a distance between him and her. There was one time when Jumi walking into the cafeteria with Kei and Joon couldn’t even greet Jumi as he used to. All he could do was just taking a glimpse at her and walking pass each other like strangers....................

“Joon! Let’s have lunch together. Where are you going???”

Rena spoke out loud and hanged on to Joon’s arm. Joon took his arm out of her hands and said in an indifferent expression.....

“Rena! I’m tired. Can you spare me some times? I need to be alone for a while.”

He said and walked away, leaving Rena who was turning slowly to the direction where Jumi was at. She clenched her both fists and bit her lips in anger...........

Later on, many things remained the same, including the fact that Joon always kept the distance between himself and Jumi, the fact that Jumi and Joon acted like strangers toward each other and the fact that Jumi’s heart almost stopped beating seeing Joon in that situation. She always wanted to talk to him and smile at him like she had used to. But every times she’s about to do it, there seemed to be the gaps between them which was unable to cross. Those things went on, until one day when Jumi was sitting in her room all alone reading a book. It’s already past midnight. She stood up and walked toward the window. She opened the curtain slowly and looked at the hard falling snow. Jumi kept staring at the snow, which was falling down really hard, and then turned to the gate. What she saw almost shocked her to death. A tall guy in jeans, coat, boots and a white scarf was standing stiff in front of her house. The weather was really cold outside but he managed to stand still without showing any expressions..........

Joon had been standing under the snowfall for a few hours without complaining or even thinking of leaving. The snow started to fall down harder and harder but Joon didn’t care. He kept on standing until a girl walked out with an umbrella in her hand and said worryingly.......

“Joon! What are you doing here? It’s really cold outside. You should go home.”

Joon turned to Jumi slowly and smiled. He responded......

“I’m here to end a misunderstanding.”

“Joon!”

“I know I have nothing to prove that I’m saying the truth and I know I have nothing to make you believe me. But I just can’t continue to live without explaining this to you. About, what you saw that day.....”

Jumi interrupted because she started to notice that Joon started to shake because of coldness. His face seemed pale and his voice started to change....

“Joon! You can talk about it later. It’s really cold out here. You will be sick if you’re still doing this.”

“Jumi! Please! Listen to me once. Just this time please!”

Jumi knew she couldn’t stop him so she just stood still and listened to him silently. Joon continued....

“What you saw that day isn’t like what you think. I didn’t call you there just to make you see me kissing Rena. I know it upset you and I’m truly sorry for everything, Jumi. I know this explanation is not enough for you to forgive me. But I just feel incomplete being unable to tell you this. It’s getting colder. You should go back in now. Goodbye Jumi!”

Joon said and walked slowly away, leaving Jumi, who was still staring at him with a few teardrops rolling on her cheeks............

A new day had started. Jumi was sitting in the classroom during the lunch break while Joon was putting his head on the table. There was no one in the room besides them. Jumi stared at Joon and noticed his unusual condition. She was about to tap his shoulder and asked if he was ok but she suddenly back her hand. Jumi stood up and walked out of the classroom. A while later she walked back in with a bottle of water and some pills. Jumi put those things on his desk and posted a sticker beside them written ‘You must have caught a cold. Take these pills and rest well’. Then Jumi sat down in her place and kept staring at Joon expressionlessly, without realizing Rena was standing by the window and staring at her in anger. A moment later, Jumi walked out of the classroom alone toward the cafeteria. Suddenly, Rena walked out of nowhere and slammed her to the wall. She spoke to Jumi in scary expression.......

“I’ve told you to stay away from Joon many times already. You seem to be unable to get what I’ve been trying to tell you at all.”

Jumi stared at Rena and responded in her usual expression......

“I don’t understand you at all. When did I ever try to get close to him?”

“What you’ve done, you can tell yourself. You’re such a dramaqueen pretending to be innocent in front of Joon. I’m sick of that trick of yours.”

Jumi clenched her fists and replied......

“You can think of me in whichever way you want to but let me ask you this once. You love Joon and I know that but have you ever valued that love just a little bit? Sometimes I think you love him so much until being able to sacrifice anything for him but later on, I’ve just realized it’s just nothing. You can’t do anything besides putting pressure on him.”

“SHUT UP!!!!!”

“I hope you can do better than this. I hope you can do something for that love besides wasting your time telling me to stay away from Joon.”

Rena clenched her fists and replied in anger.....

“Enough!!! I don’t need to be told by someone like you. I know what I’m doing. Keep in mind, girl. Joon is mine and will always be mine. I won’t let him go to anyone, especially you.”

“Don’t worry! I’ll always keep that in mind after Joon admits himself to be yours. But you think Joon will admit that while you’re treating him like a stuff like this??? I guess he never will.”

“YOU!!!!”

Rena exclaimed and raised her hand to slap Jumi. After the sound of slapping, everyone turned silent. Rena looked at the one who, was standing before her, and exclaimed out of surprising....

“Joon!”

Joon had dragged Jumi away and received Rena’s slapping instead of her. Joon’s pale cheek started to turn painfully red. His expression remained blank. Joon let go of Jumi hand slowly and dragged Rena to a place where there were only him and her. He let go of her hand and said.......

“Rena! Can you stop doing that?”

Rena’s tears started to fall down. She spoke out......

“Joon! Why are you doing this to me? You know I love you but you still ignore my feeling. Joon! You are too cruel!”

Rena said and her tears started to flow harder and harder. Without any response, Joon suddenly went down on his knees. He spoke out of broken heart.....

“I’m sorry for everything Rena but as I told you, I’ve always kept you as my friend and nothing can change that. You can tell me to do anything but please stop doing things that hurts Jumi’s feeling anymore. I’m begging you.”

Rena was too shocked seeing Joon going down on his knees. She responded with her tears flowing....

“You’re afraid she might get hurt but have you been afraid just a little bit that I might get hurt too?”

Without any response, Joon just kept staring at the floor with his hands shaking. Meanwhile, Jumi was secretly watching them with her tears flowing like a river................................

He turned around and smiled, having thought that she was Jumi. But things turned out different because she was not Jumi. Joon exclaimed.....

“Rena!!!”

Rena walked toward him and said with a smile......

“Joon! What are you doing here all alone? Aren’t you going home?”

“I’ve got something to do. You should leave now.”

Rena stared at him and responded......

“Really? What is that something you’ve got to do? Don’t tell me that something is meeting that drama queen, Jumi.”

Joon looked at Rena and spoke out......

“Don’t call her like that. She’s not someone as you think she is.”

Rena clenched her fists and responded.......

“Are you trying to protect her? Why are you always so nice to her? Why are you always on her side? You’re annoyed when you’re with me but never when you’re with her. What is so good about her? What are the things about her that I don’t have?”

“Stop it Rena! You and Jumi are 2 different people. You and her can’t be compared with each other.”

Rena hugged Joon and said in a sad voice.......

“Joon! You know I love you. Why you still ignore my feeling for you?”

Joon sighed and backed away from Rena’s arms. He spoke out.....

“Listen Rena! I’ve told you many times already that we’re friends and nothing can change that.”

He said and walked away but he stopped once Rena said......

“Can you tell me the reason? Is it because of Jumi?”

Joon turned around and said....

“It......”

He was about to say something but Rena suddenly kissed him........

************Sound of dropping************

Joon pushed Rena away and turned to the door. He suddenly exclaimed.......

“JUMI!!!!”

Jumi was standing stiff and staring at Joon and Rena with her eyes wide opened. She had dropped the rose bunch and the chocolate cake from her hands. Her heart almost stopped beating because of pain. Her vision seemed blurry because the tears wear falling down. Jumi wiped away her tears and spoke out......

“I’m sorry for interrupting.”

She said and ran away.........

“Jumi! Wait!”

Joon was about to follow her but Rena grabbed his hand. He got his hand out of her and spoke to her in anger.....

“Stop it Rena! You’ve done enough.”

He said and went after Jumi, leaving Rena, who was biting her lip in anger. Joon ran after Jumi and kept telling her to stop but Jumi kept on running without looking back. The picture of Joon kissing Rena kept on playing in her head....

“”Jumi!!! Stop crying already! There’s no reason you should be crying.””

Jumi kept telling herself not to cry even though her tears had been flowing as the river already........

Kei, who had been waiting for Jumi, was walking back and forth in the school hall. Immediately, he saw Jumi running rapidly from a direction. He suddenly stopped her. Kei turned surprised seeing the tears all over Jumi’s face. He exclaimed........

“Jumi! What’s wrong???”

Jumi said to Kei in tears......

“Kei!!! Get me out of here now!”

Kei turned to that direction again and saw a guy running from a distance. He dragged Jumi to a small space between the school buildings and kept quiet. Joon didn’t see Jumi so he just ran past them. Kei turned to Jumi, grabbed her shoulders and said......

“Jumi! Tell me what did he do to you?”

Jumi was unable to say anything. Her tears kept on falling down and she kept on sobbing. Kei hugged her tightly and said......

“Stop crying Jumi! Someone who made you cry isn’t worth your tears.”

“”Joon! I will never forgive you for whatever you did to Jumi.””

After escorting Jumi all the way home, Kei stared at her expressionless face and said.......

“Jumi! You should take a rest and forget everything that made you sad. Remember, I’m with you, ok?”

Jumi nodded and smiled. She said to Kei......

“Thank you Kei. I’ll be alright for sure. Be careful on your way home.”

She said and walked into the house. Kei kept staring at her until she disappeared. Jumi walked into her room and took a shower right away in order to wash away her pain. She seemed to be unable to erase the pictures of Joon and Rena from her head. Her tears and the shower water were racing on her both cheeks. After drying her hair, Jumi took a seat on the chair and took out her diary from her desk case........

Jumi’s diary entry

“Tell me it’s just a dream. Please tell me that everything I saw was just an illusion.”

A new day had started. Jumi was sitting in the classroom when Joon walked into the room. He stared at Jumi who was looking at another direction. He walked toward her and took a seat beside her. Joon wanted to talk to Jumi but he dared not to. He just kept staring at her until he gathered all his strength and spoke out....

“Jumi.........”

“Alright class!!! How are you all doing?”

The history teacher suddenly walked in so Joon had to back away from Jumi. Time had passed by and Joon still couldn’t find any chances to talk to Jumi. Until the lunch break, it was the moment when everyone had already left the classroom to the cafeteria. Jumi stood up and walked out of the classroom but Joon immediately grabbed her hand. Without turning to him, Jumi just kept on standing still. Joon put something into her hand and said.....

“You dropped this yesterday.”

He said and let Jumi’s hand go. She looked at that thing and realized it was the love magic bottle. Jumi clenched it in her palm and turned to Joon. She spoke to him with a smile like nothing had happened at all......

“I don’t think this is belonged to me.”

She said and put it into Joon’s hand. She continued......

“Joon! I know you gave it to me because you wanted me to write the name of someone I love but I haven’t written yet and looks like it will be long until the time I find someone I love. So you should keep it for the one you love. It’s not supposed to be with me.”

She said and turned around. As Jumi turned around, her expression was suddenly changed. It seemed like she had been trying to hold back her pain and tears. Jumi tried her best to walk away because she could feel that she couldn’t control her emotion anymore......

Joon had reached out his hand to her but he had to take it back because someone was standing at the door and speaking to Jumi.......

“Jumi! Let’s have lunch together.”

“Alright! I’m coming!”

Jumi turned to Joon a little bit before walking rapidly out of the class, to the cafeteria with Kei...........

“Let’s go home together after school, ok?”

Kei said to Jumi after escorting her to her classroom. Jumi smiled and said.....

“Alright!”

As the class ended, Jumi put all her stuff into her pink bag and rushed out of the room.......

“Jumi! Can I have a little talk with you?”

Jumi stopped and turned around.....

“Sure!”

Joon stood up and said........

“About what happened yesterday, it’s not.........”

“Um.... Actually, I just recall that Kei must have been waiting for me out there. Let’s talk later.”

Jumi interrupted and tried to walk away but Joon grabbed her hand and said......

“Jumi! Please listen to me first. It was not....”

“Take your hands off Jumi!!!!”

Kei suddenly walked in and dragged Jumi’s hand out of Joon’s in anger. Jumi exclaimed......

“Kei!!!”

Joon stared at Kei expressionlessly and said.....

“I want to talk to Jumi personally. Can’t you just give us some times to be alone?”

“You want to talk to Jumi after what you did to her??? Do you still call yourself a man after that?”

Joon responded......

“I told you I want to talk to her personally. Don’t you understand that?”

Joon said and grabbed Jumi’s hand. Kei clenched his fists and punched Joon.......

“I told you to take your hands off Jumi!!!”

As Joon fell down, he could feel the blood in his mouth. He stood back up and punched Kei back. They kept on fighting while Jumi kept on telling them to stop worryingly.....

“Kei! Joon! Stop it!”

Without listening to Jumi, Kei and Joon kept on fighting until Jumi’s voice started to fade away. As Joon turned to the door, he suddenly exclaimed.....

“JUMI!!!!!!”

Kei turned around and saw Jumi lying on the floor unconsciously. Joon suddenly lifted her up brought her to the hospital.......

A while later......

Joon was sitting on a waiting chair while Kei was standing in front of the door waiting for the doctor. As the doctor walked out of the room, they both rushed toward him and said....

“Doctor!!! How is she now?”

The doctor spoke out......

“She’s totally fine now. I suggest you to let her rest a lot, both mentally and physically. Do not upset her and do not make her think too much. Her health is very weak. That’s why she collapsed so easily.”

Joon responded.....

“Thank you so much sir!”

“It’s ok.”

The doctor smiled and left. Suddenly, Jumi’s mother was running from a direction toward the room. Joon and Kei could tell through her panic expression that she’s really worried about Jumi.....

“Excuse me! How is Jumi now?”

Joon bowed and said....

“Good evening ma’am! Jumi is fine now.”

Jumi’s mother walked inside the room toward Jumi, who was sleeping unconsciously on the bed, and her tears started to fall down.......

“My poor little girl! I should have taken care of you more than this.”

She said and fondled Jumi’s innocent face. Meanwhile, Kei and Joon couldn’t do anything besides standing and watching them from a distance. Joon sighed and decided to leave but Kei’s words suddenly stopped him......

“As you see now, Jumi’s condition is not really good. I think it’s the best way for you to stay away from her for a while.”

Joon listened to Kei’s word in a blank expression. Without any responses, he continued walking without turning back.....................

It’s already past midnight. Jumi’s mother and Kei were sitting in the patient room. Jumi’s mother spoke to Kei.....

“Kei! It’s late now. You have school tomorrow so you should go home and rest.”

Kei responded.....

“But aunt!!! Jumi has not woken up yet.”

Jumi’s mother smiled and said.....

“She’ll be unhappy if she wakes up and finds out you’re still staying awake worrying about her. Listen to me dear! Take care of your health first if you want to take care of Jumi.”

Kei sighed and responded......

“Alright! So I’ll be going now. Goodbye, aunt! I’ll come again tomorrow.”

Kei bowed and turned to stare at Jumi for a second before leaving. As he had already left, Jumi’s mother walked out of the room in order to get a cup of coffee. Meanwhile, a tall guy walked into the room noiselessly and took a seat on the chair besides Jumi’s bed. He kept staring and staring at Jumi’s unconscious face until Jumi’s mum came back. As she realized someone was in the room, she decided not to go in and just stood still watching him from the outside. It had been 10 minutes to 20 minutes to 25 minutes but his expression and action remained the same. He kept on staring at Jumi in a blank expression. He turned to the clock and it was already 2am. He stood up and walked slowly out of the room. Then Jumi seemed to be conscious. She opened her eyes slowly and the first person she saw was a guy’s back in a blurry vision. She closed her eyes and opened them again slowly. It turned out to be her mum who was looking at her. She said.....

“Jumi! You wake up now! Do you feel better? Are you hungry?”

Jumi responded in a low voice.....

“I’m ok now mum. Don’t worry and I’m not hungry at all.”

“At least, you should eat something. You haven’t eaten anything yet since evening. Wait here! I’ll go bring you some food.”

As her mum had gone outside to get her some food, Jumi tried to get up and sit on the bed. She looked into her hand and there was a piece of paper written ‘Please get well soon! Don’t let small matters bother you. Don’t think too much and rest a lot.’. After reading it, Jumi suddenly recalled the guy who had walked out of the room when she just woke up.........

“Jumi! Are you sure you are fine now?”

It’s an early morning. Jumi’s mother asked her as she was preparing her stuffs to leave hospital. Jumi smiled and responded......

“Yes mum! I’m totally fine now. It’s not fun being in the hospital. I want to go home.”

Immediately, a guy walked into the room. Jumi turned to the door and exclaimed......
